Tel Aviv Marathon Courses
The multi-course event is open to professional runners and
beginners. There is a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and kids’
mini-marathon as well as a 42K handcycle race for special needs participants.
The Tel Aviv Marathon 2018 Course Highlight
The marathon course takes in the very best Tel Aviv
attractions and landmarks. Runners will have a tour of the city as they follow
the course. The run kicks-off on Rokach Blvd. adjacent to the Merkaz Hayeridim
and finishes just a few meters away in Yarkon Park. The first section of the
race takes you on an urban course through the streets of Tel Aviv. The route turns towards the beach and on to
the most beautiful part of the course along the Tel Aviv beach promenade. The
seaviews along this section of the route are unrivaled. Runners continue along
the waterfront through the repurposed old Tel Aviv port and down the iconic
HaYarkon Street parallel to the sea. You’ll pass landmark hotels and more
beaches and seafront sites as you head towards Jaffa past the Charles Clore
Park.
The route takes runners through the Old Port of Jaffa and
Midron Yaffo Park before doubling back and returning to the Tel Aviv
beachfront. Runners follow Allenby Street, away from the sea past iconic
landmarks including the Great Synagogue before turning left into Rothschild Blvd.
Beautiful tree-lined Rothschild Blvd. has examples of Tel Aviv’s Bauhaus
architecture, sidewalk cafes, Independence Hall and boutique stores. At the end
of Rothschild runners reach the cultural heart of the city at Habima Square and
take a circular route around Sarona, a restored former Templer settlement. Runners
then retrace part of the route along Rothschild and Allenby before turning into
Dizengoff Street, another iconic street. Finally the course crosses the Yarkon
River and runs through the Yarkon Park to the finish line.
Attractions at the Tel Aviv Marathon
Along the route of the marathon there will be entertainment
stages where performers will provide music to spectators and hopefully give a
boost to the runners with their upbeat music. There will be the largest sport
and active lifestyle expo in Israel. The event will include commercial stalls, entertainment,
activities and distribution of running kits to participants. The Marathon Expo
will take place on February 18-21. Participants can enjoy a festive pasta
evening the night before the race.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the first three runners in
the general category of each race. Prizes range from $3,750 to $250 depending on
the course and your place. There will also be prizes in the various age categories
and achievement prizes.
