The Garden of Roses
is a green ray in the heart of the Government's Campus. Around it all the
Government buildings lay such as the 'Knesset' and the Supreme Court house.
While preparing and
planting the gardens three ancient caves with graves in them were found. Graves that have been there since the times
of the Second Temple. The caves are pure
evidence of the Jewish settlement’s existence in ancient times in Jerusalem.
Another archeological finding on this land is a mosaic floor left untouched
from the Byzantine era. This floor is presented along side the path leading to
the 'Knesset'.
At the heart of the
park is an artificial pond with two striking statues, where the water is lead
to it in open canals from a magnificent waterfall. This area is a vivid tourist
attraction and sport facilities where quite often sport activities are held. On
the east corner of the park there is a helicopter landing zone which is used
when any important people arrive to the 'Knesset' by air.
