The Maronite Church, Acre

Acre is sacred to the Fraciscos is for that they believe that Francisco De Assisi visited there between 1219 – 1220. The Francisco Monastery was founded in 1217 by  Elia Da Cortona in Israel. When Acre was conquered in 1291 the people of the Francisco Monastery fled. The Francisco history says that Fahar el Din the second allowed the Franciscos to legally return to Acre in 1620 and to found there the monastery named after Johanna the Baptists in 1673.
