The Marzipan Museum was founded in 1998 – in its first home – 2 small rooms in the farmer's yard museum of Kfar Tavor. The idea of making Marzipan in Kfar Tavor from the almonds grown in agricultural settlement soon caught on – and the premises in the Kfar Tavor museum soon became too small. In 2001 the Marzipan Museum moved to a beautiful new visitors' centre and winery in Kfar Tavor. The centre is based on the three main crops of the area – Olives (olive oil) grapes (wine) and almonds(marzipan).
Today the Museum has 5 separate departments:
The factory -
where all the marzipan and almond products are made as well as a large selection of praline chocolates. Visitors' can see the factory through a large glass window separating the factory from the lecture room.
The lecture hall - here visitors learn all about the production of marzipan – from the almond trees in Kfar Tavor and up to the finished product – ready to eat! There is also a short humorous film and visitors are given marzipan and almond juice to taste.
The exhibition - a delightful display of sculptured marzipan. One can see anything – from a live size Elvis, politicians, to fruit & vegetables' fairy tales, animals and even egg & chips – all made of Marzipan.
The Marzipan and chocolate workshop - groups or private visitors may take part in the workshop. Here participants can make there own models from marzipan or chocolate – with help from expert instructors who adapt the workshop to every age from 3 to 93. Of course at the end, you can take your works home or eat them on the way.
The outlet shop - where all the almonds, marzipan & chocolate products are on sale, together with hot or cold drinks, locally grown spices, natural health products, products of the Galilee and much, much more.
