Jordan Classical Tours FAQ

You’ll get your Jordanian visa at the border crossing on the day of the tour. However, citizens of certain countries must arrange for travel visas in advance, at the Jordanian embassy of their country of origin, in order to enter Jordan. View list of countries requiring prior visa clearance.

Citizens of any country that  appear on the following list must arrange for a travel visa to Jordan.

Pick up is from the main hotels in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as stated below:

Please contact us. We’ll send you the location of the nearest pickup point to your location, including a description of the area and directions. If you’re far from the pickup point and suspect that you may have trouble getting there, we can send a taxi to fetch you, at an additional fee.

Pickup from Tel Aviv is at approximately 6:30 a.m., while pickup from Jerusalem is at 8:00 a.m. Note that the pickup times may vary several days before the tour begins. In such cases, we will send an update to your e-mail address. Please be sure to check your e-mail inbox twenty-four hours before you join the tour.

In Jordan, the dinar is used. In certain places, you will be able to pay with US dollars or euros. To avoid unpleasant situations, we recommend converting your money to dinars and using dinars for the duration of your trip.

Money can be exchanged at the border terminal.

Departure procedure from Israel to Jordan at the border crossing point:

1) Travelers will cross the border independently from the Israeli side.
2) The Israeli exit fee is 107 shekels (approximately 30 US dollars), which must be paid at window 1 or window 2.
3) Next, travelers proceed to passport control, at windows 7 and 8.
4) Each traveler must have a passport valid for at least six months past the date of entry.
5) After crossing through the duty free shops, you will find our transfer service, which will take you to the Jordanian side. You will need to pay the driver 5 shekels (approximately 2 US dollars).
6) Your Jordanian, English speaking guide, will wait for you on the Jordanian side with the C.T.O sign, in order to assist you with Jordanian formalities. Entry Visa to Jordan costs 40 Jordanian Dinar per person (approx US$60).

Departure procedure from Jordan to Israel at the border crossing point:

1) Travelers will cross the border independently from the Jordanian side.
2) Pay Jordanian border tax of 10 Jordanian Dinar per person (approx US$ 14).
3) Next, travelers proceed to the Jordanian passport control.
4) After passport control you must take the shuttle bus to the Israeli side of the border - the fee is 1 Jordanian Dinar per person - approx US$2.
5) Israeli Security and Passport Control. (Please note border and security procedures can take a long time and are completely beyond our control).

Your driver will be waiting for you on the Israeli side of the border, outside the terminal building. (Please note that sometimes border security will not let the driver into the meeting area before you have passed customs. If you do not find the driver, please notify the border staff that you have a driver meeting you). 

Once you reach the Jordanian side of the border, you will see your guide, who will be carrying a sign with “C.T.O.” written on it. The guide will help you with the border crossing on the Jordanian side.

Breakfast is included on each day of the tour. Lunch and dinner are not included. The cost of lunch at the restaurants that we will stop at during the tour ranges from around 10-15 dollars. The cost of dinner depends on the type of restaurant or dining venue you choose. You have the option of booking a tour that includes dinner at hotels; if you’re interested, please contact us for a price quote.

You must bring a passport, comfortable shoes and a hat. Note that Jordan is a desert country. It’s very hot there during the day, and cold at night (especially during the winter). Be sure to come prepared.

A Jordanian visa (60 dollars), exit fees from Jordan and Israel, lunch and dinner, tips, and any other expenses.  

Jordan has a desert climate (very hot during the day, and cold at night). Jordan is dryer and warmer than Israel. Temperatures can be very high, and there is little precipitation.  

Summertime: The summer season runs between June and August. As mentioned earlier, summers in Jordan are extremely hot and very humid. In the Petra and Wadi Rum areas (the desert regions), summers are very hot as well, but far less humid, so a visit to these areas is a bit more bearable. August is the warmest month, with an average temperature of 20-35 degrees Celsius. Temperatures may even climb to 40 degrees Celsius.

Wintertime: The winter season runs between December and February. Surprisingly, although Jordan is a desert country with a blazing sun, Jordanian winters can be very cold. In high mountainous areas, in Amman, and occasionally in Petra, snow can be expected. In the desert (Petra and Wadi Rum), temperatures can fall after dark. Aqaba is one of the only destinations with pleasant weather during the winter as well. There, the average high temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius. The coolest month of the year is January, with an average monthly temperature of 5-10 degrees Celsius.

Autumn: The weather in Jordan is pleasant in the autumn. Nights are cool, and daytime weather is suitable for trips. Most visitors to Jordan arrive during the transitional seasons – spring and autumn – thanks to the pleasant weather during that time. This means that you should expect to see crowds of tourists during those times, particularly at popular sites, like the ancient city of Petra.

Spring: Springtime in Jordan is between the months of March and May. This is one of the most pleasant times of year to visit Jordan, thanks to mild temperatures that stay within a comfortable range during the daytime, and, of course, the beautiful flowers that bloom during this season.

It is your responsibility to find out what the expected weather conditions are in Jordan before departure. Be sure to come in appropriate attire, and remember the Jordan is a Muslim country – try to wear modest clothing.

After the tour "Jordan Classical 3 Days", we will cross the border, from Jordan to Israel, at about 3 p.m.
After the tour "Jordan Classical 4 Days", we will cross the border, from Jordan to Israel, at 11 a.m.
We estimate that the travel time from the border crossing to Jerusalem will be 50 minutes.
The approximate travel time from the border crossing to Tel Aviv is an hour and a half.
