Latroon monastery also known as the monastery of silence was built on 1890 by the order of the Trapists, and this is their only monastery in Israel. The monastery lifestyle in based on simplicity and harmony with nature, and also on the vow of silence the monks took up themselves, hence the name- the monastery of silence.The Arab village Latrun is located at the top of the hill, and its main livelihood is based on olive oil which can purchase here.
