Tour Route
The tour commences as it moves in the northwards toward the ancient Safed City (Tzfad). Dubbed as the centre of Jewish mysticism as well as that of Kabala movement, Safed is among the four holy cities of Judaism. The other three holy cities are Jerusalem, Hebron, and Tiberias.
Observe silversmiths, painters, and sculptors ply their craft as you throttle down the streets of Tzfat’s attractive and old-fashioned cobblestone and at the same time witness artists in their studios hard at work. Lay your eyes on the windows of the ancient buildings adorned with paintings made with genuine artistry as you stroll down the street.
The journey is just beginning as we move over to the historic Yoseph Caro Synagogue that bore the name of the famous kabbalist and scholar Yosef Caro known for his authoring of the Shulchan Aruch (codification of Jewish law). This synagogue has witnessed its share of nature’s wrath as earthquake has devastated it twice, and it has been twice rebuilt. However, the synagogue is in full operation today, being fully utilised as it spins the ancient traditional rites of Judaism into life.
Ari Synagogue, built to immortalise the memory of Rabbi Isaac Lurie, is our next destination. This is the synagogue said to be the origin of the famous Shabbat melody “Lecha Dodi” which occupies a special place in Tzfat’s heart. Do not fail to take a look at the complex and colourful ark considered the most remarkable feature of the synagogue.
The tour further proceeds, as it moves to the site of the famous Golan Heights with its exquisite luxuriant green scenery. There, you will feast your eyes as you journey along and personally enter into the former Syrian bunkers to fully understand and appreciate the Golan Heights for its strategic importance.
Finally, you are taken to a panoramic view of the breath taking Hula Valley to feed your eyes and enjoy nature at its best. Famous for its natural setting and rich ecosystem, the Hula Valley is a popular place where migratory birds make their stopover before they continue as they shuttle between the continents of Africa, Europe and Asia. Report has it that over 500 million birds make this journey during the season of migration.
