Haifa Municipality, with funding from the Hecht Foundation, established a recreational park named after the late Dr. Reuben Hecht, recipient of the Israel Prize for Exemplary Lifetime Service to the Society and State in 1984. Hecht Park is the largest green strip of land situated within the urban area of the City of Haifa.
It represents a layer in the continuity of beaches and municipal open areas stretching between Dado Beach [and the hotel area] and the Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research Center. The Park is also located adjacent to the "Shikmona Beach" National Garden, which was created along the coastline between the railway tracks and the water line.
