The owner of the highly successful Italian restaurant, La Cantina, together with Chef Yair Yosefi has now opened a new restaurant in Tel-Aviv – Alba. This time they are serving French cuisine. Some of the items on the menu include calamari with citrus mustard greens, Swiss chard and cheese borakas (pastry) and the 48 hour chicken which has been slowly roasted so that it retains all its delicious juiciness. The restaurant menu offers some dishes which appear to be standard, like the hamburger, and they turn it into a symphony of flavors with a blend of incredible herbs and spices.
A large part of the fresh produce used in preparing the food at Alba comes from an organic farm as do the cheeses, olive oil and herbs. There is an extensive wine list and bar where drinks are served by knowledgeable bar staff.
Alba is situated on Ibn Gvirol Street a street packed with restaurants serving a range of cuisine styles. This is an ideal location, close to many of the city's most interesting sites. The restaurant is small and intimate giving it an exclusive feel. The modern yet warm atmosphere is created by the décor which makes use of dark wood floors, a high ceiling and clean lines. The front of the restaurant has floor to ceiling windows so that diners can do some people watching while enjoying their meal. Alternatively there is a long bar running the length of the restaurant where diners can also sit. Being an intimate restaurant the service is attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Alba is not kosher.
