A Muslim structure that is built on top the foundation stone, at the top of temple mount.
It is the oldest Muslim structure, preserved without many modifications and is considered to be an architectural marvel.
The dome itself is not a mosque and public prayers does not be held there, however, it is a part of the Al Aksa mosque.
It is often confused and called "Omar" mosque who is actually located near the church of the tomb at the Christian quarter.
By the years, the dome has become a national symbol of the Arab Palestinian and its picture is hung in many Arab Palestinians homes.
