The Turkish Bazaar, Acre

The Bedouin Ruler Dahar El-Omar (1750 – 1775) built his own kingdom in the Galilee and made Acre's capital, cleaned up the port and built his own palace.

In 1775 Ahmed El-Jazar an Egyptian Ottoman officer conquered Acre and executed El-Omar. El-Jazar succeeded El-Omar and stabilised Acre as the leading port city of this entire area. At this stage many mosques Hamams, khans and bazaars were built for the residences convenience.

The Turkish Bazaar was built in the late 18th century and was neglected since it became Israeli territory in 1948 though in recent years it was reopened as a Bazaar of craftsmen and is open every day until of the week 18:00.
