The Best Things to do in Haifa
Haifa is located about 90 kilometers north of Tel-Aviv along the only bay in Israel- the bay of Haifa. Haifa is divided (in theory) in to two parts- downtown and uptown- uptown is on the top of Mount Carmel and the downtown is at the foot of the mountain.

The city holds some of the best sites in Israel. In this next article you will find the best places to visit while on your trip to Haifa.
The Baha’i Gardens is considered one of the most popular sites in the Middle East and attracts over half a million tourists every year. The site has 19 gardens built along Mount Carmel and its design is breathtaking. For that reason, in 2008 The Baha’i Gardens was declared a World Heritage Site. The Baha’i faith is a monotheistic religion founded in the 19th century that sees itself as the successor of the great religions and as the carrier of a new message to the modern era.
Louis Promenade is the best place to enjoy the beauty of the city; the boardwalk begins at the corner of Daphna Street next to the Rotenberg House and continues through to the Panorama Center, allowing you about a 20 minute walk along Mount Carmel that overlooks the beautiful bay of Haifa and it’s downtown, all this alongside the breeze coming from the sea. Don’t miss this walk…
Mada Tech is the national museum of science, technology and space. The museum’s vision is to pass along this complicated topic (science) in a fun and lighthearted way. The museum is open all year round and is considered one of the most popular museums in Israel, in part because of the museums educational aspect.
The German Colony is located at the foot of the Baha’i Gardens (the bottom gate) and is the most popular neighborhood in Haifa. The Colony was built by Germans that were members of the Templer cult in 1868 and was the first in the second wave of settlements built by the Templers in Israel. The neighborhood still has the houses of that time, but over the years these houses were occupied by cafes, restaurants and prestigious art galleries. And above all else, on one side of the neighborhood you can see the blue water of the sea and on the other side the Baha’i Gardens rising up on Mount Carmel.
These days the Stella Maris Monastery/ Church serves as a church and as a monastery, it is considered one of the oldest monasteries (1291 AD) in the world and in the past has served Napoleon’s soldiers on their travels to Israel. The Church is located on Mount Carmel near the city’s cable car. The Church’s story is long and complex due to its long history. The importance of the Church to the Christian community has made the Monastery/Church one of the most sought after places to visit.
Wadi Nisnas Neighborhood, which is known by the people of Haifa as “the Wadi”, is the only Arab neighborhood in the city that has kept its original character. It’s a perfect example of coexistence inter faiths and inter communal that is a main characteristic of the city of Haifa. This is a picturesque neighborhood, with old stone houses, narrow alleys and an eastern market. The place fills the visitors’ harts with a relaxed atmosphere of a village in the middle of a busy city.
Haifa is filled with great attractions in addition to those specified here. If you haven’t found what you were looking for in this article, you are invited to this next link to learn more about all the attractions in Haifa.
