Beit She'an National Park

The Beit She’an National Park is an archaeological site that traces a city through over 6,000 years of history. One of the most ancient settlements in Israel, the city has been rebuilt and destroyed many times over the years. At the park you can visit the ancient hill of biblical Beit She’an which overlooks the Beit She’an Valley. There are archaeological digs revealing the different point in the region’s history, including a well-preserved Roman Theater that seats 7,000. There are also bathhouses dating back to the Byzantine period, streets lined with Columns, an amphitheatre used for Gladiator fights, a Roman Temple, and a fountain. There are informative audio-visual displays all around the site which explain the history of the city.

Around the park is some of Israel’s most beautiful landscapes, and the area is known for having spectacular hiking trails and picturesque camping sites. To the East is the Jordanian border and to West is Gan Hashlosha, one of the most popular National Parks in the country known for its idyllic springs.
