Saker Park is the largest park in Jerusalem
,
approx. 40 acres, and lays on the footsteps of the 'Knesset
's Hills' alongside
Ben-Zvi Blvd. This Park consists of a few beautiful gardens
and is a lovely peaceful piece of land right in the center of the capital,
mostly for it is separated from the busy roads by brick walls bushy and tall
trees. The park has been clearly
inspired by the English park style, with an open view of large fields, trees
and trails surrounding the gardens emphasizing its size. On the park's west
wing a cemetery for the brave soldiers who died in the battles of The War of
Independence has been built.
Saker Park is a center of attraction for all of the Jerusalem residences and tourists for its lovely nature and size. In 2005 the park was renovated and many sporting and leisure facilities were added for the enjoyment of the public. Thus, the park attracts many activities into its gates such as: soccer and basketball courts, skate board and roller blades fields, a jungle gym and a fitness center. The main grass field is used for soccer games, baseball, football and even cricket matches. On the trails around the park it is very pleasant to either jog or ride bicycles and there even is a confined area where dogs can be released to run around freely.
