Church of the Assumption, Jerusalem

Mary's tomb lies in an underground cave which is identified, by Christian tradition, to be Mary's (Miriam) burial place. The cave is located in the edge of Kidron valley between Mount Olives in the east and Temple Mount in the west. Christian tradition later ties this chapel with Ana and Yehoyahin's grave (Mary of Magdalene's parents). Across the chapel lies another chapel of Joseph - Mary's husband. The church was partially destroyed by Tzalah al-Din after the Jerusalem occupation in 1187 AD. However it was restored by the crusaders.
